The Engineering of the Mark
Two interlocking squares—one upright, one rotated 45 degrees—form a geometric interpretation of the crown of thorns. The negative-space center creates an open canvas, symbolizing a blank slate left open for God’s hand to complete.
Spiritual Symbolism & Placement
Anchored intentionally over the left chest, the mark rests over the heart as a physical declaration of Psalm 51:10—"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me"—reflecting God’s active work purifying us from the inside out. The interlocking lines of the woven crown represent God's divine artistry, weaving trial, structure, and refinement into intentional design. Every angle serves a purpose: outward-facing thorns represent resilience, spiritual protection, and standing firm against external pressures, while inward-facing thorns reflect internal conviction and the continuous transformation of the soul.

For co-founders Jalen Hollingsworth and Candace Haynes, the story did not start in a boardroom or a design studio. It began on the weight room floor, where a shared drive for athletic conditioning and discipline brought them together. But physical strength was only the entry point. The real foundation of BLACK CANVAS GARMENTS was forged at 4:00 AM, kneeled in early morning prayer and devotion, seeking divine strategy, direction, and purpose for their lives.
